Financial education should be a mandatory component of the school program. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
As we shift from having a market economy to becoming a market society, the significance of financial education is growing undoubtedly. In fact, a lot of people around the globe struggle financially because they cannot master money flows. In my opinion, all students need to learn these essential skills in order to live long, happy and wealthy lives.
It is undeniable that money plays a conspicuous role in modern people's life. This is particularly true for the latest decades when we experience the real pressing of marketing efforts that try to make us buy some goods and services. In fact, a majority of people cannot resist the temptation because of the fact that they have never been fought the skills of long term financial planning. Since they lack such a critical skill, they have to work hard in order to make ends meet; they have been struggling financially all their lives and usually fall into poverty at the end.
In order to prevent and avoid such working life's pattern people should have an opportunity to learn t at least a minimal set of financial knowledge. The better time to do this is the school and university academic years, the time when young people learn how to live in the future adult life. Indeed, the financial subjects that form the attitude toward the future work, career, own business, and money itself, should be included into school curriculum and become obligatory for all students including future musicians, sportsmen, librarians and other professionals which seem to be far away from business, credits, and finances.
To sum up, financial skills give people the opportunities to improve the quality of life, spend money wisely and build assets instead of buying liabilities. Hence, in my opinion, this extremely useful knowledge should be given in school in a mandatory course.
